The Country Club Nantais is in Couëron, on the road to Saint-Étienne-de-Montluc, 10 minutes from Nantes and 5 minutes from the Atlantis shopping centre. All 6 courts are clay: 4 indoor courts with traditional clay and 2 outdoor courts with Red Plus clay, resurfaced every year. Thanks to the indoor courts, you can play on clay in winter as well as in summer, 7 days a week.
Players come from Couëron, Saint-Herblain (5 minutes), Nantes, Orvault, Sautron and Indre (10 minutes).

Galaxie tennis, ages 6 to 10
: one-hour sessions, €270.
Teen tennis school, ages 11 to 18
: technical and tactical training, €290 a season.
The club deliberately keeps group lessons limited so that courts stay free for members to book.
Young players enrolled in the tennis school get 50% off the Club Enfant or Club Ado membership; adults enrolled in group lessons get 30% off the All Inclusive or All Inclusive Plus membership.

What is clay?
A slower, higher bounce
: the ball loses speed, so you have more time to prepare your shot.
Sliding footwork
: sliding takes a little technique, but it reduces jolts.
